Stunning black Elsa Schiaparelli Paris hat with original tag, receipt, and corresponding department store hatbox, circa 1950s vintage.

Sloped pillbox shape with a higher rise in the front. Two narrow streams of black satin ribbon loop over the inset top right front and are held in place with clear, prong set rhinestone florets, with a bit of ribbon ends below.

Wool felted interior, the outer has a soft fur appearance and woven beaver nap was not uncommon in this era- or from this maker "Musketeer imported body, made in Austria" is marked on the interior. "Schiaparelli, Paris" label and "Hochschild, Kohn & Co, Baltimore" label, as shown. 

The receipt is dated 9/18, and appears to be from 1952 given the printed info at top edge. Retail price was $18.95 plus $0.57 state tax.

Hat is in flawless condition, receipt and box show some discoloration as to be expected. Unsized, most of the other hats from this estate were in the 22- 23 range.
