vintage 1980s necklace Yves Saint Laurent brass wood geometric YSL jewelry
Circa early 1980s vintage Yves Saint Laurent long statement necklace of brass and wood.
Authentic, with "YSL" hang tag at the back adjustment clasp, as shown.
Narrow wood disk slices between brassy gold cylinders down each side to three 7/8" long brass square stock beads.
Each side has a bit more of the wood slice and smaller brass cylinder repetition, with a section at the center of the same wood slices and wider circumference brass beads of a slightly narrower width, see photos.
This central front section keeps the bottom of the necklace curved over the chest instead of folding between the breasts.
Gold tone metal "S" hook clasp with several adjustment links.
Upon very careful inspection, there are two "missing" wood slice beads- though the taughtness of the necklace stringing would not allow for additional beads; one is near the hangtag, the other is nearly equidistant off of the opposite side of the center detail - this is not a flaw or damage, but actually part of the design.
Condition:
Slight variation to the color of the wood slices, as wood has natural variation.
The six brass square pieces do each show a bit of wear, dings, tarnish, as brass antiques with age. While this may polish up a little bit, the necklace is vintage and the tarnish does not detract.
Slight tarnish to the "YSL" metal logo tag.
Wonderful on its own or layered with other pieces.
An extremely rare piece in great condition- this is a beauty!
