vintage 1940s Hattie Carnegie hat black wool cap floral front spray 40s millinery
Incredible black wool felt Hattie Carnegie hat, circa 1940s vintage.
Narrow black silk velvet ribbon band with four detail bows; one at each end of the front flora spray, two spaced within the flowers.
Flowers are beautifully detailed - in ivory with pale yellow edging, hot pink edging and palest lilic edging.
Center details are a dark brown long nap mohair fabric around domed shapes; are very apple green with lavender ends.
Fold under brim is widest at the front, tapering to the back center.
Fit is fairly close to the head and cap- esque - a bit of a shallow cloche.
Merrimac felt, with "Hattie Carnegie Originals" label dating to the 1940s.
In stellar condition with minimal crushing / flattening to the flowers - a truly spectacular piece of millinery!
Measurements:
approximately 20" inner band circumference
4- 1/2" hat height, with 2- 5/8" deep brim (at front center)
