vintage 1950s Hattie Carnegie coat gray wool alpaca / fur lining M - L
Vintage charcoal gray wool and alpaca blend coat with fur lining, Hattie Carnegie label, circa early 1950s.
Black fur vest liner is original - looks and feels like a very fine Persian Lamb but could be sheared beaver - easily removed if desired.
Full length sleeves are set into a slightly dropped shoulder; sleeves are a bit on the wider side - they can be cuffed up a bit, as shown.
Coat is about hip length, four button front, with small hidden button at neck.
Two sets of functional hand warmer pockets sit perfectly on the curved side panels seams and add a bit of sportiness.
Wool blend outer is thick and warm - assumed alpaca content given the length and texture.
Fully lined (with vest lining overtop) in opalescent gray/ mauve heavy silk weave.
While this shows signs of wear and use, she's a rare beauty - still fashionably modern after 60 years!
Condition:
-Buttons are mismatched - two of the four appear to be original, the two odd buttons are of the right size and era- as found - I rather like them "as-is", but you may choose to replace.
-Nap thinning to seams, edges, placket, cuffs, pocket trims, button holes.
-Some thinness and wear to the fur vest lining, especially along the underarm edges, splitting at back neck, etc.
No holes in the wool blend outer.
Priced accordingly.

Two period Julius Garfinckel labels, one adjacent to the Hattie Carnegie label and another in the right underarm seam area- hidden by the fur lining.
Measurements:
21" shoulder seam to shoulder seam - slightly dropped shoulders
