vintage 1960s Pauline Trigere black dress - silk chiffon nude illusion tiered ruffle cocktail frock S
Circa early 1960s black silk chiffon cocktail dress by Pauline Trigere. Nude illusion upper with buttons at back. Sheer black silk chiffon sleeves with inner zippers at wrists. Tiered black silk chiffon ruffle body, hidden side seam zip; with some of the ruffles kidding small snaps to completely conceal zipper. Body is fully lined/ backed in nude chiffon; sleeves are single layer black. The nude illusion effect upper is backed in one layer of nude silk chiffon, the main body of the dress has two layers of nude chiffon beneath the ruffled. Jewel neckline. Eleven black chiffon ruffled tiers. Spectacular construction inside and out- even the buttons are covered in silk chiffon!
The Pauline Trigere, Neiman- Marcus, and ILGWU labels all date this to the very early 1960s. Fit is a bit streamlined through the waist, and slightly A- lined from the upper hips to the hem, falls just below the knees (based on height). No size tag, and no give to the material- mannequin is a modern US 2- 4 and this is a little loose on her, confirm measurements below.
Condition is very, very good, with the following issues:
-Three small flaws/ shifts in the black chiffon outer on the nude illusion upper, on on either side of the left shoulder seam, and one at the back right neckline edge. The worst of the three (and all are quite minor) is shown.
-When each tier is very closely examined, a few do show some flaws- the worst of which is shown.
While not flawless, dress presents beautifully, is super clean, ready to wear. No obvious runs, snags, damages beyond noted. A really stellar piece!
