1940s vintage black EMBROIDERED caftan rayon satin gown OS
Incredible black rayon satin caftan style dress with bold floral machine and hand embroidery, circa 1940s / 1950s vintage.
Mid to heavy weight rayon.
Split neckline with red trim and ties.
Front bib overlay panel with heavy floral embroidery.
Angel sleeves with belled shape; with embroidery down the outer arms.
Three columns of embroidery down each side.
Single row of embroidery across the back upper hem, connecting the outermost columns.
Beautifully detailled embroidery depicting pea pods and various flora in vivid ombre effect - just stunning!
Condition is very good- this has aged very well.
There is a slight area of unravelling on the back left shoulder, as shown- not a hole, just an outer edge of piping detail.
There is an unfinished flower at the V- neck, two of the six petals are unfilled.
Some minor inconsistencies as this is a hand made and embroidered item, though created by someone with quite a bit of skill.
